Biography

It is a cliche for a musician to mention a childhood interest in music, but such has been the case of Canadian artist Otilia Taras. She was indeed musical from a young age whether entertaining an audience of one (her sister) or performing in the school concerts where she evidenced herself as a tricky frog prince and the ideal caroling voice.
As a teenager, Otilia moved to Vancouver to pursue music further and diversify her knowledge. After getting a solid foundation in classical music, she went on to explore her heartfelt interests : Middle Eastern dumbek drums and vocal training. Her growing desire to master composition and perfect her own songs has led her to become acquainted with the production process.
Otilia is an open-minded artist, drawn to many different styles and genres as her collaborations demonstrate. When defining her own music she would probably say it is a mix of soft rock and electronic sounds with a touch of the 80’s thrown in. Her songs are all about emotional honesty poured into catchy melodies. She is currently writing songs for her first album and looking forward to a busy open mic season starting with this fall.
